Microphone Test Function

The BT Changer uses the Saab’s factory-installed microphone for Hands-Free mode. There has been a demand for a way to verify that the microphone functions correctly after installation. Therefore, we have developed a microphone test feature, which can be accessed in Wi-Fi mode through the administration interface. This function is available starting from software version 2.0.6.

The operation is very simple: in the administration interface, under the “Advanced” functions, you will find the “Microphone Test” switch. When this switch is turned on, the Saab SID (SIU) display will show a changing value that represents the live signal from the factory microphone, confirming that it is working. Speak softly and then loudly — you should see the value change. The level is displayed in decibels, the default value is between 20-30 dB. During testing, this can jump to 60 dB.

If you do not see any change, it means that either the microphone is not connected, or there is a cable break or malfunction. If the change in value is very small, it is likely that the low-level microphone signal is connected (you can read more about this here).

After the Microphone test it will automatically stop when exiting Wi-Fi mode.

Note: The microphone test function only works if the BT Changer wiring harness is connected to the factory phone (TEL1) 375 connector.
